On April 25, 1945, the United Nations Conference on International Organization began in San Francisco. This was the attempt by governments from above to forge an international community. About 200,000 anti-Vietnam War protesters march on Washington on April 25, 1971.  The Stockholm+40 Partnership Form for Sustainable Development will be held in Stockholm from 23-25 April 2012, in commemoration of the UN Conference on the Human Environment held in Stockholm in 1972.   On April 25, 1974  a bloodless military coup, supported by the civilian population, brought democracy and civil liberties to the Portuguese people.  On April 25, 2012, the Global Teach-In will contribute to building a sustainable model for a democratic economy, by, for and of the people.
